Yasser Jassim Qassem is a writer and researcher for a number of Iraqi and Arab publications, focusing on enlightenment values. He is a Member of the Basra Center for Studies and Research and the National Center for Social and Historical Studies. His books include: الحتمية التنويرية(‘The Inevitability of Enlightenment’), علي الوردي والمشروع الحضاري (‘Ali Al-Wardi and the Civilizational Project’) and he is currently working on a book القرامطة والعدالة الاجتماعية (‘The Qarmatians and Social Justice), which adopts the vision of enlightenment in light of the silence about the movement in the Islamic heritage.
